In the mid 1970’s, Toner Farms Ltd. grew mostly seed potatoes. In the early 1980's we began to grow table stock potatoes (potatoes for eating). We then started to buy and wash table potatoes for the consumer market.

 

We are growing mosthly Russet varietes whitch we supply some to the packing line and also to the local French Fry processing plant.

 

All of our potatoes that we raise are grown within a 15 mile radius.  We normally plant our crop beginning mid-May and finish around the first week of June.  We spend the next 16 - 17 weeks taking care of these potatoes, witch would include a lot of work and attention to be able to harvest the best possible high quality crop.  We begin our harvest usally around the 20th. of September and finish around the 10th. - 12th. of October depending on the weather.

 

After the potatoes have been stored for a short period of time we then begin to market them which in some cases can take as long as 10 months. (with refrigeration in the later months)
